1 Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the BadgeTrust platform at badgetrust.info (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all visitors, certificate verifiers, training organisations, and any other users of the Service.
2 Description of Service
BadgeTrust is a certificate verification platform that allows:
- Registered training organisations (RTOs) and issuing bodies to issue digitally verifiable certificates and store certificate records in the BadgeTrust database.
- Employers, graduates, and third parties to verify the authenticity of a certificate by entering a certificate code or scanning a QR code.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with or without notice.
3 Access & Accounts
Certificate verification is available to the public without requiring an account. Access to the administration panel for certificate issuance is restricted to authorised personnel of registered organisations.
If you are granted admin access, you are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials confidential
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate admin access at our discretion, particularly where these Terms are breached.
4 User Obligations
By using the Service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when issuing or verifying certificates
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms
- Not interfere with the proper operation of the platform
- Comply with all applicable Australian laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Standards for RTOs 2015
5 Prohibited Uses
You must not use the Service to:
- Issue, alter, or submit false or fraudulent certificate information
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform
- Perform automated scraping, bulk lookups, or denial-of-service attacks
- Impersonate any person, organisation, or issuing body
- Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or any malicious code
- Use verification results to make decisions in a discriminatory manner contrary to applicable law
6 Accuracy of Certificate Records
BadgeTrust stores and returns certificate records exactly as submitted by the issuing organisation. We do not independently verify the academic or training claims in any certificate.
The accuracy and integrity of the underlying qualification — the fact that a student completed the stated course — is the sole responsibility of the issuing organisation.
If you believe a certificate record is incorrect, please contact the issuing organisation directly, or contact us at info@badgetrust.info if you are unable to reach them.
7 Intellectual Property
All content on the BadgeTrust platform — including the design, code, text, graphics, and logos — is the property of BadgeTrust and is protected by Australian copyright law.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our express written permission.
Certificate PDFs generated through the platform for an issuing organisation incorporate templates and data owned by that organisation. BadgeTrust claims no ownership over the content of individual certificates.
8 Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BadgeTrust disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
- Warranties as to the accuracy or completeness of any certificate record
Verification results are provided for informational purposes. Employers and other parties should use verification as one input in their due-diligence process and not as the sole basis for employment or other significant decisions.
9 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian consumer law, BadgeTrust will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service
- Reliance on a verification result
- Inaccurate certificate records submitted by an issuing organisation
- Unauthorised access to our systems by third parties
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
10 Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately and without notice if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use of the Service is harmful to others or to us.
On termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
11 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
12 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If the changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered organisations.
